The state government of Andhra Pradesh has allotted 4048 more houses for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Andhra Pradesh for East Godavari. Earlier the government sanctioned 1250 houses each for all the homeless people of the East Godavari under Housing for all scheme for the financial year 2016-17.
Now the government has sanctioned 4048 more houses for the East Godavari districts under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. It was an addition to 20150 units allotted for the district earlier.
Apart from the two Assembly constituencies, the newly merged mandals with the district as part of rehabilitation of the displaced people of Polavaram irrigation project will get benefited from allotment of more houses for East Godavari. Under the Houses for All scheme of the Smart City Project, 4,608 units were sanctioned for Kakinada.
The district administration has decided to give an impetus to implementation of housing schemes to realise the set targets for the current financial year 2017-18. By this decision of the government the construction of houses for the eligible poor people in the limit of Kakinada Municipal Corporation will also get a big boost.
Under PM Awas Yojana a field level survey is being conducted to identify the beneficiaries of this housing scheme. There will be the involvement of the local representatives and Jammabhoomi committee in the implementation of the Pm Awas Yojana. KMC Commissioner Aleem Bhasa said that the housing scheme will be taken up in the municipal corporation soon.
